This half-day tour’s a great introduction to gin and how it’s created. You’ll take a short coach ride from port to the rurally located Bombay Sapphire Distillery. On this behind-the-scenes tour, you’ll discover everything from how the Bombay Sapphire name was chosen to why the brand decided on its signature blue bottle colour. This place is well-known for its funky glasshouses, and the tour of the distillery and different production areas includes a look inside. You’ll end the tour by sampling a freshly made gin cocktail, before returning back to Southampton.
Get your taste of traditional England in Winchester – a city overflowing with pretty cobbled streets, time-stamped buildings and quaint tea rooms. A 25-minute scenic drive will land you in this ancient capital, where you’ll find a charming mix of old and new. You can’t miss the cathedral – it’s one of the largest in Europe, and dates back to the 7th century. Plenty of famous names – like Jane Austen – are buried here. Plus, keep your eyes peeled for the statue of King Alfred the Great at the top of the town. Winchester’s a first-rate destination for shoppers, too – one-off vintage shops rub shoulders with loads of big-name stores.
This whistle-stop tour takes in some of the best sights in London. Following a two-hour drive up to the capital, you’ll be whisked past historical hotspots like Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London, before making a beeline for the visually stunning St Paul’s Cathedral. You’ll also make the drive to Buckingham Palace, so have your cameras primed and ready. See if you can spot the Royal Standard flag flying on top – this means the Queen’s at home. Then there’ll be an hour of free time to do as you please in the picturesque setting of Covent Garden. Take a turn around the pretty indoor market, pick up some souvenirs and grab lunch from a nearby café.
